About the Akwe:Go Special Supports Programs
Goals/Objectives:
To improve the quality of life by ensuring aboriginal children participate in healthy activities that fosters their ability to make positive lifestyle choices.
Target:
Urban aboriginal children (ages 7–12 years) and their families.
Services Provided:
- Traditional teachings
- Promote healthy lifestyle choices
- Enhance skills that develop awareness of negative behaviours
- Increase skills and knowledge that demonstrate positive personal choices
- One-on-one supports
- School supports
- Referrals to medical services as required
