About the Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Program
Goals/Objectives:
Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin is an initiative created to provide an opportunity for communities to engage Aboriginal men and youth in understanding violence against Aboriginal women and support them in joining together to end the violence. Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin is an Ojibway phrase that translates to “I Am a Kind Man”.
Target:
Aboriginal Men
Aboriginal Male Youth
Services Provided:
- To provide education for men to address issues of abuse against women;
- To re-establish traditional responsibilities by acknowledging that our teachings have never tolerated violence and abuse towards women;
- To inspire men to engage other men to get involved and stop the abuse;
- To support Aboriginal men who choose not to use violence.
